In first 8 months of this year, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region transported outward 29,450,000 tons of coals, increase of 13.16 million tons compared to the same period last year, increasing 80.8%.
Inner Mongolia is China’s second largest coal-producing province, its coal production capacity only after Shanxi province. From January to August this year, Inner Mongolia raw coal output complete the 477 million tons, an increase of 20.16% the year-on-year. About 295 million tons out of 4.75 billion tons of coal was sold outside.
Lower local conversion of coal proportion is a major cause of Inner Mongolia’s outward transportation pressures. As the construction of coal conversion projects is slow, with the increase in coal production, transportaion pressure of coals increased. local conversion of coal has dropped from 45% to the current 38%, export ratio reached 62% in Inner Mongolia.
the next few months, as the weather turns cold, the Inner Mongolia coal transportation conflicts will become more prominent.
